Scene Reflection

In this scratch program I created different scenes! Sprites and stage are very similar. They are alike because they work with each other. They both need code in order to change. To start a sprite in a scene you need the "When Green Flag is Clicked" button first. Next, you create your sprites movement. Finally, you add the key "Switch Backdrop" Then you choose the backdrop for your scene. The last step shows how sprites and scenes work together. I would use a scene change when creating a story to show the different places where the story took place. My classmates used scratch the same way as me but used different backgrounds. For example, one of my classmates used the Disney Castle.

Penguin Joke Conversation Reflection

To create a broadcast you must let your sprite know when to start with an event For example "When Green Flag Is Clicked". Underneath that event put what you want your sprite to say; then go under the category "Events" and click broadcast. Label your broadcast what your first sprite said. Next, go to you other sprite and add from the category "Events" "When I receive broadcast" and then underneath that have your sprite say something. Repeat these steps in order to get a successful conversation! I would use timing in my project in creating a conversation or movement. I would do this so that I can have my sprite say or move for a certain amount of time before the next action. I would use broadcasting if I wanted to add a conversation to one of my projects.

Make a Block!

Here I made my own blocks for two sprites. To create a block you must put coding in for what you would like your sprite to do. Next, go to "More Blocks". Here you can define what your block does by attaching this to the code. You can label this motion to correspond with its code. For example, Floating, Jumping, Talking, etc. After you have created this block you can use it instead of a lot of coding! I would us the "Make a Block" when I am creating a program that requires a lot of code, to make it more simple.

Debug it Reflection

A strategy I used to debug Scratch programs is I first read what needed to be fixed in the program. Next I watched the Scratch program to see what looked off about the Scratch, and what time it occurred. Finally, I looked at the script to see what needed to be fixed  and I added keys or took out keys. I would teach someone how to Debug a program by telling them to first search a debug under the Explore Category. Next, I would say click See Inside and after it loads click Remix this Project. Finally, I would tell them to follow my steps above.

Debug 1.4

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/39745042/

Here I changed the script to the cat gliding back and forth. Now the cat can pace the stage. I  took out the original script and made gliding keys for each side and added the repeat key between them.

Debug 1.3

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/39742740/

Here I fixed this program by deleting all the turn 90 degree angles except for one. I also added a repeat key to repeat turning 90 degrees to have the cat flip.

Debug It 1.2

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/39739378/

I debugged this Scratch by adding a go to movement to the left side at the beginning. I searched for the debug then clicked see inside and finally I clicked remix. I watched the program first then looked at the code and found out what was wrong. This is what I would tell someone to do if they were learning how to Debug a project.

Three Ways to Move

Here is the Link to Three Ways to Move

I found creating three ways to move was very useful. It helped me learn three ways to move glide, go to, and loop. I will use this in my future scratches.

Debug It 1.1

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/39277790/

I debugged this project by adding "when green flag is clicked" on top of the Gobo's script to make it dance.

Ten Block Challenge

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/38981882/

Here is my Scratch for the ten block challenge. This activity helped me learn how to use Scratch because it showed me how use new blocks. It restrains my ideas because I can only use ten blocks instead of any blocks I want.

Scratch Dancing Cat

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/38435214/

         Dancing Cat

Here is the link to my dancing cat! I found the Scratch program to be a lot easier than I thought because the moves are already made for you. I feel the most creative with the Scratch program because it allows you to use any sprite and backdrop! It is a little restricted when it comes to the moves because there are not various options. I feel that the scratch should have more structure on how to make a game. Overall, Scratch is a really fun program.

HTML Intro

I would like to learn how to add pictures to my website. I also would like to know how to how to add extra gadgets to a website like links. Finally, I would like to learn how to add color to my website like a colored background or colored text. First, I know HTML is used to create websites. I also know you need a little phrase code for every website in order for it to work. I am concerned about all the of things that could go wrong if you miss one letter in the coding.

Why Do Computers Use Binary Numbers?

I understood how the computers add up the sound waves to equal voltages. I also understood how separation begins at two because at three you have an odd number, and at one there is only one choice. Next, I didn't understand how base numbers worked. I also didn't understand what a digital signal was. Finally, I would like to know more examples of when computers use binary numbers.

Binary Game

During the binary game the highest level I got to was level four. The hardest part of the binary game was choosing the cards to add a up a high number. I do not like using binary numbers to count with because there is a limited number of cards. I used my fingers to count another card into the problem. The binary system must be used in the computers to make it simple for it so it can follow a certain pattern in order to calculate numbers.

Eliza the Computer Therapist

I did not find Eliza to be human like. She asked a lot of the same questions and used my sentences as a question in the wrong sense. To make her seem more human like I tried to talk just about myself, other whys she became confused. I don't think a computer therapist will become very useful because they can not express emotions, so they can not show empathy. Someday in the future computer scientists may be able to create a human like therapist, but again it may not be that helpful because they can't show emotions well.

Google Boys

In the movie "Google Boys" I learned many interesting topics about Google. First Larry and Serge as students worked together to create Google. They went to many places around the world in order to collect money. Next, a couple challenges Google faces is competition with Microsoft, Yahoo, and Apple and fail on updates. The key of staying ahead of the competition is continuing to add new ideas to your website that other websites do not have. The Google Boys find their information from the people who add to the website.

African Fractals

  • Pattern that repeats itself
  • They create shapes from nature
  • Branches
  • Clouds
  • Mountains
  • Design sculptures,hairstyles, and architecture
  • Follow Self- Symmetry, a lot of small parts that looks like a whole
  • Follow iteration by adding more little lines as you create the design
  • You measure the fractal by measuring the bottom length and the highest point of each conch

Cultural Background-Native Americans

Native American bead work is well known for creating bead work using x-, x+, y-, y+. The key concept being used in this lesson is how to use a graph. The design type is four-fold symmetry. All of the four-fold symmetry's are reflected on each side. The four types are Embroidery, Shoshone, Pawnee, Navajo. In the second image the beadwork is symmetrical , but with different colors.

Communication

I noticed during my log I communicated mostly through text and snap chat. I didn't use my phone consistently, but different times throughout the day. Most of the people my age communicated this way too.

Scavenger Hunt Reflection

  • I am good at searching for pictures  for a specific thing
  • I could improve on web searching for something very specific
  • I could improve on typing a good word or sentence to search for the correct item or person

Computer Buying Project

Learned- I learned the functions of different parts of a computer and the price range of the them.

Challenge- One challenge that occurred during the project was trying to find the right parts for the Mac computer without going over the budget of $1,000.

Working With a Partner

Working with a partner can be easy because you can divide up the work. But, it can also be difficult if your partner is absent or doesn't do much work. It is easier when your partner is productive and you can help each other with what you don't understand.
